Here is a selection of questions we regularly receive:

Do you allow pets? No, due to allergies we do not have pets. That is also why it is not allowed to bring pets to El Refugio. PS. But we do have regular visits from mountain goats, many (predatory) birds, countless beautiful insects and not to forget our house chameleon Pedro!

Can you easily drive to you by car? Yes, the road to our village Alcaucín goes up from the coast quite evenly without too many hairpin bends. After you have passed Alcaucín, you drive a little further towards 'El Alcazár'. After 1.5 km you turn left onto a dirt road. Do you allow smoking? Yes, smoking is allowed outside on the premises, but please be considerate of other guests and use the ashtrays that are provided. Smoking is not permitted in the guest rooms and common areas.

Do you cook for guests? Yes, we do that regularly, but not every night as standard. We do that according to the wishes and in consultation with the guests. Here you can find more information about ' food and drinks '.

How far is El Refugio from Alcaucín? The village - with some restaurants and bars - is a 5-minute drive from El Refugio. You can also walk there in 25 minutes. The way back takes a bit longer because you have to climb a bit.

What are the check-in and check-out times? Check-in at El Refugio is possible from 4 p.m. Check-out is possible until 11 a.m. Feel free to inquire about the possibilities for an earlier check-in time or later check-out due to, for example, an early or late flight. However, we do charge a surcharge on top of the room rate for this.
